What does a Queensland title search show?
Titles Queensland keeps the State's land register, and a Current Title Search is a copy of one title as it stands today. It also records whether a paper certificate of title has been issued.
- Title reference: an 8-digit number, such as 51141198, and any previous titles.
- Registered owner: each owner's name and the dealing number that made them owner. Queensland titles don't print an owner's address. 'Trustee under instrument' means the land is held for a trust.
- Estate and land: the lot on plan (for example Lot 1 on Survey Plan 287744) and the local government area.
- Easements, encumbrances and interests: mortgages, leases, covenants, easements (and whether your land carries the burden or gets the benefit) and rights reserved to the Crown.
- Administrative advices and unregistered dealings: notices recorded against the title, and documents lodged but not yet registered.
Title reference or lot on plan: which do I need?
In Queensland they're different numbers. The lot on plan describes the land, such as Lot 3 on RP123456; the plan can be a Registered Plan (RP), Survey Plan (SP), Building Units Plan (BUP) or Group Titles Plan (GTP). The title reference identifies the title itself.
Most council rates notices show the lot on plan, and Queensland Globe, the State's free online map, finds it from an address. The title reference is on earlier title searches and conveyancing papers. You don't need either to order from us: we show both before you pay.
Can I buy a title from Titles Queensland directly?
Yes. Titles Queensland sells a Current Title Search to the public for A$25.71, with no GST, through its online shop, by phone or by post. Lawyers and conveyancers usually buy through approved distributors. See Titles Queensland's title search page.
If you already know the title reference or lot on plan and just need the PDF, buying direct is the cheapest way to get it.

Units, community titles and acreage
A unit or townhouse in a community titles scheme has its own lot and title reference, on a BUP, GTP or SP. The common property belongs to the scheme and is managed by the body corporate, so if you own a unit, order your own lot's title.
Acreage and farms are often several lots, sometimes on different plans, each with its own title; we list every one we find. Where an easement runs is shown on the survey plan, which we don't sell yet. Titles Queensland sells plan copies to the public for A$27.56.
Common questions
How much is a title search in Queensland?
Titles Queensland charges the public A$25.71. Our price is A$79, including that fee and the address lookup.
Can I do a QLD title search for free?
No. Every Queensland title search carries the Titles Queensland fee. Queensland Globe is free and shows the lot on plan, but not the owner; see free title search options in Queensland.
Can I search for a Queensland property title by name?
Titles Queensland's fee schedule has no general search by owner name, and we don't offer one. A title search starts with the property.
Does a Queensland title show the owner's address?
No. It shows the registered owners' names and the dealing that made them owner. No title shows phone numbers or email addresses.
Why isn't there a plain-English summary for Queensland?
Not yet. The plain-English summary is coming to Queensland titles; until then you get the official PDF only.
How long does a Queensland title search take?
Usually within minutes, any day of the week. If the registry queues an order, we email you to let you know.
